Mealime closes October 21, 2026
Mealime is shutting down, and there is no export button for your saved recipes or plans. If your cooking is shaped by allergies, low-FODMAP, or blood-sugar targets, this is where to land. Set your constraints once and every week gets planned inside them.

Mealime is being discontinued on October 21, 2026. Albertsons Companies, which acquired it in 2021, is folding it into Meals Hub, a recipe and shopping feature inside its grocery apps. Pro has been made free through the shutdown, and existing Pro subscriptions will not renew.
The part that stings is the data. Mealime has no export, so there is no button that hands you your saved recipes, your meal plans, or your grocery lists. Whatever you want to keep has to be copied out by hand before the date. If you spent years building up plans around a household allergy list, that is a real loss, and it is worth saying so plainly.
So the question is bigger than which app looks the most similar. It is which app is worth rebuilding your constraints in.
Plenty of apps will hand you recipes. Eat Roostly plans the week around the dietary constraints you set, the nights you are actually free, and the food already in your kitchen.
If nobody in your house has a restriction, almost any planner will do. If somebody does, most planners hand the cross-referencing back to you every single week. That is the job Eat Roostly takes over.
Each household member gets their own allergies, intolerances, and diet. Every weekly plan is filtered against all of them at once, so you get one dinner the whole table can eat. Filtering is best-effort and always free, on every tier, including the free one.
Eat Roostly reads your calendar before it plans. The night you have a 7pm game gets a 20 minute dinner, and a free Sunday gets the slow-cook. It can write the finished week back to your calendar too.
The week becomes one aisle-organized list, with the safe swaps already made. On a paid plan you can send it straight to a Kroger cart.
Export and permanent account deletion are built in from the start. Having just watched a shutdown take everyone's recipes with it, we think that matters more than it used to.

There is no import, from us or from anyone else. Mealime never built an export, so there is no file for another app to read. The good news is that a constraint-based planner does not need your history to be useful. It needs your rules, and those take one sitting to enter.
Do this part before October 21. Open the handful of recipes your house actually cooks and copy, screenshot, or print them. Most people find the list is shorter than they feared.
Each person's allergies, intolerances, and diet, plus the foods you avoid. This is the part you spent years teaching Mealime, and it is the part that carries over.
About two minutes later you have a full week of dinners planned inside those rules, matched to your schedule, with the shopping list built. Swap any meal you do not like.
Already keep favorite recipes elsewhere? On a paid plan you can add them by pasting a URL or photographing a recipe card, and they join the rotation.

Yes. Mealime is being discontinued on October 21, 2026. Its owner, Albertsons Companies, is folding it into Meals Hub, a recipe and shopping feature inside the Albertsons, Safeway, Vons, and Jewel-Osco grocery apps.
It depends on how much of your cooking is shaped by constraints. If you are planning around food allergies, low-FODMAP, or diabetes-friendly targets, look for a planner that stores those constraints per person and applies them to every plan automatically. Eat Roostly does that, for every member of the household, on every tier including the free one.
No. Mealime has no export, so there is no file for any app to import, and anyone promising a one-click Mealime migration cannot deliver one. Eat Roostly starts you fresh instead: set your constraints once and generate a full week of dinners in about two minutes. On a paid plan you can also add individual recipes by pasting a URL or photographing a recipe card.
